YORK CITY TRAIL MAP

This speculative client project for Make It York reimagines the city through a series of three distinct trail maps: a Bar Crawl, a Charities Trail and a Ghost Trail. Developed in collaboration with the store manager to shape and refine the content, the project positions York as a city that can be explored through multiple narratives — social, community-focused and historical.
Each map combines a clear schematic layout for easy navigation with small locator maps for contextual orientation, before unfolding further to reveal a large-scale A2 map of the entire city. While each trail is aimed at a slightly different audience, they are designed as a cohesive collectible series. Individual colour schemes distinguish the themes, while consistent typography and layout ensure visual unity across the set. By layering information and maintaining a strong visual system, the design balances clarity with character, encouraging users to explore — and collect — York through multiple perspectives.
